Generations after surviving genocide, a group of Northern Cheyenne Indians struggle to heal the trauma that has been consuming their culture ever since. They ask themselves: Is tradition the path back to being “the beautiful people” they once were? This ethereal documentary traces the biographies of its protagonists, setting their personal stories against the backdrop of the history of the Cheyenne people. We follow a mother, fighting for the recognition of missing and murdered women on the reservation, a teacher working to get kids out of trouble and into their culture, and an elder reaching out to those who have already passed over into a life of crime.
