Shane Thomas McMillan is a narrative and commercial cinematographer and photographer based in Berlin.

As a cinematographer, he has worked on over 100 shorts and multiple feature films since 2016. His work has sprung from collaborations with organizations like the Jane Goodall Institute and  Ecosia, among others. 

In 2022, he directed, shot and edited his first feature-length documentary, To The Sea, which followed a German chemistry professor as he swam the entire length of the Danube River.

Other feature films that Shane has participated in include the award winning documentary Can’t Be Silent, for which he worked as the editor's assistant. He also collaborated with director Samer Halabi Cabezón on the independently produced documentary Strassensamurai.
 

From 2014 to 2015, Shane was instructor of photography at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies. From 2015 to 2016, he was the studio manager to the artist Nan Goldin.


Since 2019 Shane has been a lecturer for various schools and workshops -- focussing primarily on format development and project management for different forms of storytelling.
